A nice 10k run on mainly traffic free roads.

For convenience the route will start from the canal bridge on Moor Lane.  However you should be able to start at a point near to you.

Follow the canal along the tow path heading in the direction of Carnforth. Passing the golf course follow the tow path as it turns slightly left and crosses both aqueducts. First going over the A683 then the wonderful piece of Victorian engineering as the canal crosses over the top of the River Lune.

Leave the tow path at the first road bridge crossing the canal and turn immediately and sharp right onto Halton Road – be careful as there is no footpath over the bridge.

Follow Halton Road past the army base and under the motorway (M6) into Halton Village – be careful as the footpath disappears occasionally – at the roundabout continue straight on.

When you get to the Greyhound Pub, turn right into Station Road and cross the River Lune on the old iron railway bridge. Immediately after crossing turn right into the Denny Beck car park and head along the cycle path keeping the river on your right.

When you get to the aqueduct, climb the steps up to the towpath and head back toward the city keeping the canal on your left until you get to Moor Lane. Obviously you can carry on or pick up this route at a point close to you.

The route has been measured using a Polar RS400sd which is 98% accurate.
